Message from ‘I Am Starstruck’ Editor Leeshie:
At 'I Am Starstruck' we love to have a blast; chatting away about all of the glitz and glamour in the world of celebrity and pop culture. BUT today I want to pause and talk to you about something on a more serious note - something so important that even inspirational celebrities themselves are getting behind!
Depression affects thousands of Australians every year.
Invading lives in various forms, the 'black dog' may well be living with your best friend, family member or work colleague right now as we speak!
Depression is not about being crazily suicidal 24/7 . The simplicity of feeling alone, helpless, anxious and sad can be indicative of depression.
In fact many of us may have dipped into extreme lows at certain times in our lives, and not even realised we were actually depressed.
I know not one, but actually quite a few people who play pivotal roles in my life who are battling this monster - it can be one’s worst nightmare but there ARE ways to get through it!
So it is important for us all to be aware of depression so we can provide the required support!
That’s why I have ensured that 'I Am Starstruck' HQ is getting behind Marie Claire Magazine’s ‘Shine A Light on Depression’ Campaign.
Inspirational local media personalities have opened up on the significance of being truly aware of what depression is and not simply casting a ghastly stereotype on sufferers and socially isolating them.
