WHY WE ALL SECRETLY HAVE A GIRL CRUSH ON NINA PROUDMAN
Well what an episode of ‘Offspring’ that was!
Eloise likes Nina.. that’s right NINA!
Not the irresistibly handsome, oozing with a melting smile, sex on legs Dr Patrick Reid, but instead, Dr Nina Proudman!
So my shock-struck self naturally grabbed for the Cadbury and dramatically broke the choccie block to pieces.  I was suspecting Matt Preston to be Patrick’s dad in this ep and then this happens?
But then I calmed down and reflected.. it shouldn’t have been that much of a surprise right (if we put aside Nina’s fantasy scenes that have a profound effect to persuade us all)?
I thought about Eloise’s confession and came to the conclusion, “WHY NOT?!”
That’s right, I myself have a girl crush on Nina and I bet that pretty much every one of you do aswell!
Here’s why:
She effortlessly pulls off hippie chic clothes in a professional medical environment
She fantasises about everything that we’re too scared to admit that we do
Her facial expressions are so raw and real and ahh, just put us in stitches to be honest
She’s the number one go to advisor amongst her dramatic Proudman family
She has the natural glow that reels in the sexy men (ok this one makes me slightly more jealous than anything else)
Cudos to Logie award winning actress Asher Keddie for portraying such a hilariously entertaining, heartwarming, multi-dimensional character that we all want to befriend and secretly be at the same time - MASSIVE GIRL CRUSH ALERT!

WHAT’S HOT ON THE BOX TONIGHT - ‘OFFSPRING’, 8:30PM, CHANNEL 10

It’s Wednesday… Happy OFFSPRING day!

Please excuse us whilst we jump up with feather bowers in hand and do a little happy dance…

There are only eight and a half hours left until Dr Patrick Reid’s seriously sexy physique is sprawled across our television screens but let’s put eye candy talk aside for a moment.

Tonight’s episode is extremely important in Nina’s pre-natal life - intern Eloise’s secret will finally be unveiled.

And to enhance the drama in the Proudman household, we will be treated to an appearance from Masterchef judge Matt Preston (our guess is that he’s Patrick’s dad?).

Make sure you tune in to the sizzling ep tonight and join the conversation live on our Facebook page !

BATTLE OF THE TATTS - MATT LE NEVEZ VS STEVE PEACOCKE

I have a confession to make, I’m not the biggest fan of tattoos but if there was one TV sex god that floated my ‘body ink boat’, it would be Matt Le Nevez who plays Dr Patrick Reid on ‘Offspring’.

So since the second episode of ‘Offspring’ Season 6 hit ours screens tonight, I thought it was perfect timing to showcase Matt’s sexy physique with his cherry blossom tatt.

Let’s do a bit of a compare and contrast whilst we’re at it by including Steve Peacocke’s “Blood and Sand” tattoo (not real) that he sports on ‘Home and Away’.

HAVE YOUR SAY: Whose tattoo do you dig - Matt’s or Steve’s?

WHY AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION IS THRIVING
At ‘I Am Starstruck’, supporting local talent is our speciality and Editor Leeshie’s television highlight of the year is the annual Logie Awards.
So when the opportunity arose to go to the Sydney Writers’ Festival and listen to some of Australia’s phenomenal TV scriptwriters explain what makes utterly brilliant Aussie TV, we were there!
Here’s our review:
“Nina Proudman: what a mad bitch” were the first words Ruth Ritchie exclaimed at the ‘Writing Great TV’ seminar.  The television critic is referring to the highly popular television character portrayed by Logie winning actress Asher Keddie on Channel 10’s ‘Offspring’.
Ritchie’s remarks were directed towards none other than ‘Offspring’ writer Debra Oswald who was on the panel to discuss why Australian television is thriving.  Joining her was Christopher Lee, the writer of Australian television mini-series ‘Paper Giants: The Birth Of Cleo’ and ‘Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War’.
Both writers are the scripting masterminds behind television series that have revolutionised the nature of recent Australian television.  And having been in the industry for over two decades, Oswald and Lee shed light on changing audience perceptions and mentalities of television networks that have carved a new era for local televised content.
Oswald’s high rating show ‘Offspring’ returned to screens last week for its fourth season, but when asked if she could have pitched the show ten years ago, she revealed, “we pitched if four years before it was wanted.  We pitched it to all of the networks and everyone said no”.
So why has it taken so long for captivating ‘dramedy’, a delightful mix of drama and comedy, to replace a television landscape historically dominated by action driven cop, legal and hospital shows?
“A large part of it is the post-HBO revolution,” said Lee.  He believes that the US network responsible for the production of the Sopranos and Mad Men has influenced Australian producers.  “The producers in Australia had a look at this and thought we can do that.”
He also attributed the high popularity of shows like ‘Offspring’ to the shift in audience’s tastes.  “The audience itself has become better educated in drama and understands the nuances of better writing and better directing,” he said.
Oswald added that this has posed a pressure on writing teams to continuously generate fresh, captivating content. “Audiences being more savvy about television does make the job sometimes more difficult… now there’s a million blogs and Facebook pages with people saying what they think is going to happen”.
Ultimately, the key attractive concept underlying a captivating script is the exploration of universal themes; life, death and sex with a speck of humour.  Oswald said that Nina’s relatable multi-dimensional life of work, family and romance is what keeps audiences watching. “I think that’s like real life and it’s fun to watch.
When you sit and watch Offspring, you’ll be likely to laugh, likely to be moved and more likely to have sex with your partner”.

Tropfest is one of world’s largest short film festivals and on Sunday night, the Australian version was held at The Domain in Sydney.
Icons of Australian film including Rebecca Gibney, Magda Szubanski, Gyton Grantley and Richard Roxburgh were on the judging panel.
The winning film of the night was Nicholas Clifford’s ‘We’ve All Been There’.
Speaking of short films, this short film is one of my faves.  It’s not a Tropfest flick but a must-see created by budding Sydney film makers.  Watch it HERE !
